No agenda, no guest speakers and nothing formal; just a chance to spend the occasional evening with likeminded people, in one of York's oldest pubs. The Greater Manchester Skeptics run the Manchester Skeptics in the Pub events, which are held twice each month. A bunch of Mancunian skeptics get together in the pub to discuss science - sometimes with a guest speaker, sometimes without but always with plenty of alcohol! Cumbria Humanists have regular meetups to discuss topics ranging from secularism to science.
Each month we host a talk - usually by a notable scientist or skeptic - in a relaxed and friendly manner. In a pub. The subjects of the talks will vary considerably but they will typically be about a common belief that either cannot be justified by the available evidence, or that can actually be demonstrated to be false by the available evidence.
